Shankar Narayan Junior College is a perfect stepping stone to the Shankar Narayan Degree College of Arts & Commerce. The Junior College which is permanently unaided is Alma – mater to thousands of students since it was established.  It has present 10 divisions of commerce and 1 division each of Arts & Science in FYJC and 9 divisions of commerce and 1 division each of science and Arts in SYJC, making up a total of whopping 23 divisions of approximately 3000 students totally.
Our students have done us proud. Ata the HSC exam conducted in the last year’s academic year (2009-2010) the science division has a perfect 100% pass percentage, the commerce division had approximately 84% and the arts had a descent 52% pass percentage.
We have students coming from as far as Bandra in the South & Virar in the North. It is by no coincident that during admission to FYJC cut off to the Science stopped at a descent 70% and Commerce at 50%.
Our students are imparted the best of education and our teaching faculty of Junior college is trained and are also experienced Board Examiners. Training in the best possible manner in order secure marks in the Board Exam is the motto of each member of Faculty. Students are encouraged to ask questions and teachers are often seen solving doubts of the students in the library.
But. S. N. Junior college is not only academic. It believes in all round development of the personality of the students. Along with academics the Junior college holds several cultural, literary and sports events. Cultural competitions encouraging student’s talent are held. They are also send to inter-collegiate festivals where they have done the college proud by winning laurels. Notable prizes are for Drama, Folk Dances and Fashion shows in events like the Mira – Bhayandar Kala Krida Mahotsav and Keshav Shrishti Festival.
Sports too have an important part in the college activities. Apart from a sports week with the students playing not just for the inevitable Cricket but also Indian games like Kabaddi & Kho-kho  with full zest  and  enthusiasm. Last year our Junior College reached the state level in Throw Ball (Under 18 girls).
The more literary students are encouraged to take part in competition like Debates and Quiz. They also write articles for our in-house magazine “Vinay”
