College of Arts & Commerce, Bhayander

 

 

1. ANTI – DRUG CAMPAING
   On the occasion of Anti – Drug on 1st July 2011. We organized Anti – Drug workshop with the calibrated of Navghar Police Station Bhayander (East). More than 300 students participated and get aware of the said topics. It is one step taken by college towards such social issues. Shri. Pingle (Police Inspector) of Navghar Police Station chaired the sensations and guided to participate.

2. BLOOD DONATION CAMP
   NSS unit organized Blood Donation Camp on 13th July 2011 in our college premises. This camp was organized with collaboration of Nair Hospital & J.J. Hospital. Blood Bank as well as J.J. Metro Blood Bank. Around 700 students were participated and 264 bags of blood were donated to those blood bank.

3. PHYSICAL FITNESS CAMP
   This camp was organized with the intention of creating awareness among youth about physics, as it is important from personality point of view. The Doctors and consultants from Sanctrum Gym were supported us to make it successful, around 200 students, teachers and non-teaching staff get benefited.
4. DISTRIBUTION OF NOTE BOOK
   

   The NSS unit’s volunteers donated the books to Needy & Poor Children. The Childers of Primary and Secondary level from nearest to college Municipality School is the beneficiary. Around 600 note-books were donated on 23th July, 2011 with the intention of increasing their attitude of study and Develop the habit of writing. 

 

The program officers enrolled 300 students for the 3 units allotted by N.S.S. cell of university of Mumbai. Following are the projects undertaken for the academic year-2010-2011.

1. Blood Donation Drive
   On 9th July 2010, the blood donation camp was organized in collaboration with J.J. Hospital Byculla and Association of medical consultants.159 bags of blood were collected and donated to J.J. Hospital Blood Bank to save precious human lives.

2. Cleanliness and Tree Plantation Drive
   We planted 1000 trees in Lokvardhan Ashram, Kajupada on 27th Oct.2010. This contribution will support to control the Global Warming.
   Cleanliness is next to godliness. College N.S.S. Unit with other college students organized mega rally on 7th Jan 2011. Around 300 students participated besides management teachers and non-teaching staff to appeal Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation about cleanliness and other problems related to students. The authority of Mira-Bhayandar immediately came out of his office and assured us that within 15 days they will try to solve all the problems raised by college.

3. Global Warming Project

             It is a burning issue of today's world. We gave the priority to this project from the year 2009.  N.S.S. unit organizes “Mega Monsoon Marathon” with the intention of involving youth for Global Warming Awareness program on 22nd Aug 2010. Around 3000 students from different colleges of University of Mumbai   participated in it. These participants by wearing the T-shirts which covered the message of Global Warming Awareness and having placard in a hand run 5-kms (girls) and 7-kms (boys) at Mira-Bhayandar Road.  The winners of Marathon were awarded with the cash prizes of Rs.7000, Rs.5000 and Rs.3000 for 1st, 2nd and 3rd winners respectively as well as Trophies and certificates. The prizes were separately awarded for Boys and girls. It was our zonal level Activity.

4. National Integration and Communal Harmony Project

             To create awareness about Communal Harmony among youths we participated in Communal Harmony Week from 19th Nov 2010 to 25th Nov 2010.The volunteers of our unit performed street play and group song district level competition held at Abhinav College as well as in debate, elocution and poster making at inter college level.

5. Traffic control project

             Every time we are ready to provide social services. Our volunteers rendered services at the time of Ganesh immersion festival. More than 100 volunteers supported to Mira-Bhayandar Traffic police in controlling traffic, maintaining peace, discipline and order in Mira-Bhayandar on 15th and 17th of sep. 2010.

6. Campus Development

             This project is basically aimed at keeping our campus clean and very healthy and pleasing that has an added advantage to the process of teaching and learning. Our hard working N.S.S. volunteers realized this responsibility and time to time they worked on campus to maintain the ground for sports and cleaned the whole campus.

7. Peace Meeting 

             On 26th Nov. 2010 the N.S.S. of our college organized Peace Meeting where the students gathered to salute to 26th Nov.2008 sacrifices.

8. Zonal Level Meeting
   On 22nd July 2010 the zonal level meet of the N.S.S. program officers was arranged in our college to discuss and plan the activities of the current Academic year. The Meeting also involved discussions on the various problems being faced by the N.S.S. programmer officers and probable solutions were suggested for the same.
   On 20th Dec.2010 another Zonal level meeting was called for giving instructions to Zonal level Participants for Participation in west zone leadership camp.
   On 3rd Feb.2011 there was another P.O. Zonal level meet to give technical knowledge about preparation of evaluation related document.
   These entire meets were chaired by N.S.S. district coordination Prof. G.Y.Shikhare.      

               In this way Shankar Narayan College holds the responsibility of N.S.S. cell of University Of Mumbai with our regular college activities. We feel proud of it..!

9. AIDS awareness project
   The red ribbon club was formed in the college with 15 members and from last 5 year it arranges AIDS awareness week from 1st Dec. to 6th Dec. Rally, Street play, Seminars, workshops, counseling and the week was winded up with exhibition.

10. Residential Camp

              The 7 days residential camp was organized from 22nd Oct 2010 to 28th Oct 2010. 150 volunteers took part in it. The camp was inaugurated at the hands of Principal Dr.V.N.Yadav. Various programs were undertaken during the camp such as gust lecture, discussion, adventure training, film show, sports and cultural etc. This camp was well scheduled and planned. The volunteers started the day with warm up and yoga and continued with shramdan. The Intellectual session packed with different area resource persons, speeches and practical training and evening sessions were fully utilized for sports, cultural, film show on social issues etc. The management teaching and Non-Teaching staffs with principal visited the camp and appreciated the work.

11. District Level Camp

              As per the request with proposal for district level camp to N.S.S. cell, University Mumbai, the N.S.S. cell coordinator Prof. Atul Salunkhe & advisory committee of N.S.S. cell University of Mumbai, sanctioned the district level camp for Thane west zone on 'Samarth Gram' theme. It was organized from 21st Jan. 2011 to 27th Jan. 2011 under the guidance and supervision of Prin.V.N.Yadav and Prof.G.Y.Shikhare. This seven days camp created awareness among the volunteers about how to make a village self dependant with over all development. This camp completed with making the participants to realize their responsibility towards the village. The various kinds of training was given like how to perform street play, how to create awareness of consumer rights among villagers, how to run the movement of “Andhashradha Nirmulan” and “Cotton Bag Movement” as well as importance of education in villages. The participants gave the visit to Indira Nagar Slum and Conducted socio-eco survey.

12. Disaster Management Project

              Our Disaster Management Cell of N.S.S. unit organized 3 days Disaster Management Training Certificate Course from 10th Feb to 12th Feb 2011 with the support of Thane civil defense under the guidance and supervision of Mr. Bagad.

13. Participation In Leadership Camp

    • The District Level Leadership Camp held at Kosbad, Dahanu - Namrata Dhamnekar, Prachi Walavlkar, Nikhil Patil and Shabab Khan participated and got the Training of leadership.
    • National Level Leadership Camp organized by Gogate Joglekar College and University of Mumbai at Ratnagiri. The responsibility of participation in this Camp was held on by Shankar Narayan College N.S.S. unit with 50 participants including 10 of S. N. College.

     

    • The University Level Camp for Leadership was organized at Neral and Mr. Priywarth Sharma has represented S.N.College in it and got the certificate of leadership.  

             

           Our N.S.S. unit also celebrates Independence Day, Republic Day, N.S.S. Day, Youth Day etc.
