A candidate for being eligible for admission to the Degree Course in Bachelor of
Science - Information Technology, should have passed XII Examination of the Maharashtra Board of Higher Secondary education or its equivalent with Mathematics as one subject and should have secured not less than 45% marks in aggregate and 40% marks aggregate, in case of reserved candidates.
1) Every candidate admitted to the Degree Course in the class / affiliated college / recognized Institution conducting the course will have to register himself /herself with the University.
2) The course will be a full time course. The duration of the course will be six semesters spread over three years.
Classes will be held from 7.30 a.m. onwards.
3) No. of Students : A batch shall not contain more than 60 students.
4) The course shall consist of 29 theory papers and a sixth semester of project work completed in the Institution / Industry/ Research Organizationl.
5) A one/two week orientation course for those who need it, may be conducted by the respective Colleges / University Department at the beginning of the course preferably in the evening as per Annexure-I, so that students opting for this course are better prepared to receive the intended course work.
6) All papers are of 100 marks theory and 50 marks practical/tutorial.
7) The Project will be evaluated for a total of 200 marks.
8) Every subject should consist of two in-semester tests, the first conducted after 4 weeks of instruction and the second conducted after 8 weeks. In case of all programming oriented subjects at least one of these tests should be on-line. The answer papers/on- line test printouts of these tests should be attached to the term work / practical work / tutorial.
9) Each Subject has 12 or 14 weeks of instruction per semester.
10) Each subject will have Theory 5 Lectures per week, and 3 Practicals / Tutorials 3 periods per week.

Examination
i) Theory paper Max Marks = 100.
ii) Semester Six has project work that is evaluated at 200 marks divided into 100 marks for project report and 100 marks for the viva-voce of the report assessed jointly by internal and external examiners.
End of the semester evaluation of 150 marks that constitute 50 marks for the report, 50 marks for presentation and 50 marks for viva-voce.
Passing Standards
1) A student is said to have passed if he/she secures 40% of marks allotted in each head of passing. Theory of 100 marks and TW / Practical / Tutorial of 50 marks are treated as separate heads of passing.
2) A student is said to have passed semester I, if he/she passes in all heads of passing of the semester.
3)A student is eligible for admission to semester II irrespective of no. of heads of failure in the First Semester.
4) A student is eligible for admission to Semester III if the student passes either semester I or II
OR
the student fails in a combination of Theory and / or Practical taken in Semester I or Semester II or together where the total marks does not exceed 200.
5) A student is eligible to be admitted to Semester IV irrespective of no. of heads of failure in Semester III.
However, the student has to clear Semester I and II, in order to appear for Semester IV examination.
6) A student is eligible for admission to Semester V if either the student passes Semester III and IV
OR
the student fails in a combination of Theory and or / Practical taken in Semester III or Semester IV or together, where the total marks does not exceed 200.7) A student is eligible to be admitted to Semester VI irrespective of no. of heads of failure in Semester V. The results of VI should be kept in abeyance (in suspension)until the student clears semesters III, IV and V in full.
8) The class is awarded Semester wise for Semesters I, II, III and IV. However, Semester V and VI will be taken together for award of class i.e. in the final year.* Award of class is based on first attempt and all papers given in the same sitting.
* Passing in parts will be awarded Pass Class irrespective of the cumulative percentage
of marks.
• Distinction is awarded for 75% and above
• First class is awarded for 60% and above but below 75%
• Second Class is awarded for 50% and above but below 60%
• Pass class is awarded for all below 50%
9) A repeaters examination will be held 15 days after the result of the regular examination
in Semester I, II III and IV. Examinations for Semester I, II, III, IV will be conducted by the college / Institutions / University department at the end of each Semester.
Examinations for Semester V and VI will be conducted by the University of Mumbai at the end of the respective semester.
